In the activity, which took place over the course of two days, first to sixth grade students of the Rachel Hameshoreret School in Kefar Saba went through a wide variety of Experiential Stations, in which they met people with different kinds of disabilities, heard their personal stories, and experienced the different disabilities in an experiential way.

The students went through different stations, amongst them:

Wheelchair Obstacle Course – an activity managed by Access Israel instructors with physical disabilities, in which the students sat in wheelchairs and had to deal with environmental obstacles like bumps on the ground, sewer covers, and more.

Blind Orientation – in this activity, which was managed by instructors with visual disabilities, the students needed to orient themselves in an area without being able to see, and in addition learned about the world of sports for visually impaired people.

Communication without hearing – in this activity the students met deaf instructors and Sign Language translators, learned basic phrases in sign language and how to communicate without being able to hear, by wearing headphones that simulate a decrease in hearing ability.

At the end of the activity the students received an accessibility certificate that they can sign, which encourages them to protect of the rights of people with disabilities.

The activity was done with strict adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines and with total separation of the different classes, and with disinfection of the equipment and keeping adequate distance.
