Watch: Access Israel held a meeting on Accessibility in Emergency Times

Access Israel initiated and held a conference on the evacuation of people with disabilities during emergencies, with the participation of people with disabilities, representatives of associations, representatives of emergency organizations, the Home Front Command and the municipal government.

The military operation, which took place last May, presented a bleak picture of the reality of evacuation in an emergency. Three killed and two seriously injured by rocket fire are people with disabilities or their caregivers, who had difficulty reaching the protected space, or whose home did not have a protected space. Following this, we held a conference on the evacuation of people with disabilities during emergencies, in order to delve into the issue, talk about the difficulties that exist during emergencies, and the state's failed concern for those people with disabilities.

Purpose of the conference: Promoting the issue of accessibility in emergencies, improving the existing situation for people with disabilities and creating an insights document for promotion in the Knesset to raise the issue, and address it quickly and effectively to prevent the next disaster.
