Accessibility with The Jewish Agency

On May 29, 2019, Access Israel held an awareness event for teens participating in a program through The Jewish Agency

During the event the participants got a glimpse into the world of accessibility, through the viewpoint of four people with disabilities (mobility, vision, hearing, communication), who shared their life stories hardships and successes.

In one room they met Yehonatan a deaf instructor, received an explanation about the way communication is made with him and the interpreter, and learned a few words in ISL (Israeli Sign Language).

In another room the participants met Or-el, heard her story, and received guidance about the best way to help a person with vision impairment:




To experience how it feels to be with a mobility disability, the participants took turns on a wheel chair obstacle course assimilating obstacles found on an ordinary street:




For invisible disability, the participants received instructions for an easytask, performed under great pressure. They met Nir an instructor with a communication disability, who shared his life story, and the daily obstacles he faces:




The participants expressed a great appreciation towards the guides, and the eye-opening experience they had.
