Natioal awareness day for handicapped parking summary (Enlarge)

National awareness day for handicapped parking took place on October 17 for the second year, with the participation of the Traffic Police, businesses, local authorities and schools. For the full list - press here.

A number of events took place including:

Traffic Police – an extensive enforcement campaign, during which hundreds of parking tickets were issued.

Access Israel Organization
Campaign for Media Awareness (radio, television's channels 2 and 10, internet, cinemas Yes Planet, Globus and Lev, CTV malls) by courtesy of Geller, Nessis Publicity.   A petition on the internet at www.aisrael,org, activities on the web and Facebook. etc.

Tens of organizations and businesses held publicity campaigns for many of thousands of employees (distributing posters, leaflets, stickers, emails, films, displays etc).

The Israeli Malls, Ariel Promol, Azrieli Malls and BIG distributed informative leaflets to all drivers entering their parking lots.

Tens of thousands of pupils watched informative films and displays and will participate in training prepared for them by the organization.   They will receive a "pact" to be signed by their parents. A special event took place in Kiriat Bialik schools and the municipality under the auspices of the mayor, Eli Dukersty.

Many parking lot employees, including Ahuzat Hof and employees of the G4S security company, gave drivers information.

The Tel-Aviv port marked 80 parking places for the handicapped, exclusively for vehicles with legal handicapped tags.

A central educational and awareness happening took place at the Tel Aviv port,   Hundreds of children participated in accessibility experiences in the presence of the chairman of the Knesset Education Committee, Zevulun Orlav and Knesset member Uri Aurbach.

A happening to raise awareness by presenting accessibility buggies, specially designed by artists and manufactured by the Afikim Company, took place in the presence of a large number of company directors.

In addition, an accessibility and handicapped parking happening took place in the Margaliot Mall in Hod Hasharon on October 18...Hundreds of pupils participated, with greetings by the Mayor, Chai Adiv and the Head of the Operations Department of the Traffic Police.

The Economic Committee of the Knesset held discussions on October 18, on a law to improve handicapped parking.
